| This one inch adenomatous polyp was an incidental finding in specimen sent to the surgical pathologist from the operating room, where it had been removed from a patient who had metastatic ovarian cancer. In the picture above, the long axis of the opened bowel is horizontal, and the mucosa is viewed en face. Adenomatous polyps are benign, and would not - by themselves, require that the portion of the bowel that one grew from be removed. Photograph by Ed Uthman, MD. | ||
