Alzheimer's Disease
| "Alzheimers" is one of those names that everybody knows. Yet, what it means to 'everybody' (the general public) and what it means to professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists and neurologists) are not the same.
At least, this word means senility to most everybody except the doctors who diagnose and treat it. To them, it means a very specific kind of senility, only seen in certain circumstances. So what? Well, unless everybody is careful in ther meanings, it is quite possible to hurt a person's chances by making assumptions without nailing down exactly what this term means. |
