  • Calorie Consumption by Activity

How many calories do your activities burn off?

This article provides a basis for answering that question for yourself. Mostly, answers are rough estimates, because the actual energy requirements have a lot to do with precise characteristics of the body doing them - and exactly how strenuously the work-out is, whether in the gym, backyard, or in daily routine.

  • One key to fitness is a general sense of scale in what burns off food energy. For those who live in societies where neither work or play amounts to hard physical labor, and where a smorgasboard of food is constantly available, using that knowlege can make the difference between fit and fat.
  • The calculator to the right may help a bit to outline what your activities currently consume. Playing with it by plugging in possible activities that you could do, might even like to do - but don't do, and seeing the difference that doing them could make, can be a helpful exercise (though not of the kind that burns fat - of course!!).
